I might not have a polaroid camera (yet) but I found this thing that makes your photos look like polaroids and I liked it. Actually it has a very easy user interface and you have to actually wait for the image to appear, just like the real thing. And if you shake it, it will develop faster… kinda cool, isn’t it?! So if you wanna try it go to www.poladroid.net and download it for free and have a lotta fun! here are some samples of my own…
She’s my cousin Paola with her beautiful and cute daughter Johara.
You might have seen this in a past post… Mónica, Mally and Sammy…
Maf… I love that photo… that day I learned that pineapple Fanta and vodka is actually a good mix!
Folken, Audrey and me having a good time!
Folken and Ayari drinking some kind of gay cocktail…
She’s Paola, just met her a few months ago but actually a nice gal.. with a nice tattoo…
Ayari and Johnny… lovely couple!!
Audrey trying to eat a big piece of meat… chicks who really eat are cool!
Wawa at her birthday party @Pasagüero, definitively a nice place to hang out…
I’m feeling that I will be using this app quite a lot, even though there’s nothing better than a real polaroid. Oh! by the way, there’s something going on HERE. It seems we’ll be having fun again with instant film soon.
cheers!

Happy New Year to y’all!! Geez, 2009 finally ended! I don’t want to be negative, but I can’t remember of much good things that happened this year, except maybe for some great concerts, meeting cool people, great parties, and that’s about it. But hey, 2010 is here and I’m embracing it and looking forward for an amazing year full of good stuff, hell yeah!
Well, I spent the holiday in my hometown Guadalajara, I wanted to go there for a while so bad, all my family is there and I’ve had the most amazing feasts there, really, food there is always so yummy!
This is in the small town of Ajijic, a lot of people from the States and Canada go there at their retirement, and that’s where my grandparents live. I went out to shoot with the AE-1 and this is one of the few frames I did with the DSLR. I will post the rest as soon as I develop them.
There was a concert at downtown Guadalajara, I must say it was a beautiful one, almost drove me to tears, really, nice selection with music by Brahms, Mozart, Marcos Lifshitz, Gioachino Rossini, Tchaikovsky and more.
This was on our way to the concert.
Lots of chinese restaurants everywhere!
Photos with Santa.
People looking for a better view at the concert.
Fireworks at the end. I suck at taking nice fireworks photos…
There was fake snow too!!
Walking around…
yee-haw!!
I like hats.
Such a lonely light.
Jorge Matute Remus, amazing what he did! You go and read that link.
Nothing really…
Just downloaded Silver Efex Pro demo and loved it! But $200 usd for it?? I really don’t know… that’s the cost of Aperture! Anyway I liked it.
That’s my brother an my cousin Montse.
Guess she couldn’t wait for New Year’s dinner.
New Year’s dinner being made.
Ready for dinner!
My aunt cooking some amazing Pozole.
She did some Horchata aswell.
One of my favourite places in Guadalajara is the Expiatory Temple, Amazing gothic architecture.
Maybe waiting for a miracle??
It’s all about faith.
Express manicure anyone?
She shared her lunch with the doves.
I liked the Tin-tan and Atom Ant stickers
cool!!
Yesterday I received my new Holga, it’ll be a lot of fun to shoot with it, can’t wait. Now, I have to go get some 120 film and get those rolls from the AE-1 developed!
Well that’s it for now, I’ll be posting more this year, promise!
Cheers!

I finally ordered a Holga. I’ve been wanting one for a while, you know, here in Mexico they’re waaaaaay too expensive, like $200!!! man that’s just vulgar!!… anyway, I managed to get one in the US for less than $40. So, if you have any experience with Holgas, any tip or you’re just a Holga lover I’d love to hear any comments, suggestions, etc.
In other stuff, as some of you already know, I broke my left arm on Monday which is totally F$”$% up!! I fell from a ladder at work and fractured a bone, nothing to worry too much about and I thought it would be more painful than it actually was. But that keeps me from doing some stuff I love, but I can still shoot! We’ll se how good I am at composing, focusing and shooting with just one hand.
Just to keep this post in the “Photo” category I’ll post a “new old photo” from one of my favourite places on earth, the Jewish Memorial in Berlin, designed by architect Peter Eisenman, I love the repetitive reticular arrangement of big concrete prisms creating a beautiful scenery on the surface, and long labyrinthic corridors on the inside.
I hope I could go there next year, yes! one of my new years resolutions, another Euro tour! I have to think about the rest.
Well, on Tuesday I’m heading off to Guadalajara and I’ll have little to none internet access so this might be my last post of the year, so I wish all of you a merry Christmas and an amazing new year!
Cheers!

…scans in the post, so sorry but I’m very tired now to edit them. It would’ve been easier to clean the dust off the scanner but again, I’m lazy and tired. Also this photos are from september!! dude, I really need to shoot a lot more!… anyway, this might be one of the most mediocre posts but whatever, here are the photos. (I guess I’m a little pessimistic at the moment ha!)
I’ve been hangin’ out a lot with Audrey and War… they’re such cool and fun guys, I luv’em.

This is at Alfredo’s on september 15th, Independence Eve night here in Mexico. We had an amazing dinner with steaks and beer, hell yeah!… oh yeah, sorry for the damaged scan but the lab fucked it up.

both enjoying dinner…

making fun of this…
There was this skate show we went the next weekend, we were expecting something very different, such a deception. So we left quite frustrated, specially War…

It was a little bit cold and raining when we left…
Being at the other side of the city we didn’t have much more to do, except have some pizza at one of my favourite places…

oh yeah… and some beer!

W-T-F?!!

Just around the corner is the Martell music college and they have this Elvis statue there which looked so out of place for me…

Later at War’s we spent the night watching Family Guy and Futurama but before that Audrey playing with her DS… she’s such a geek gamer girl

One week later at a sushi restaurant before a gig with the band…

Mally looking at the menu, she’s a vegetarian so no shrimp, no octopus or such…

Just outside the restaurant… after I took the photo Floun asked me why I keep taking photos of strangers…

Having lunch at Coyoacán and some street shooting…

The Virgin Mary image in the chair appealed to me… I have a thing for religious images.

…and maybe I have a thing for hats too! I tried to follow this guy to get a closer shot but he was walking very fast…

Revolutionary street art…

The random photo of the day!!
Hope to be posting more photos soon… not shooting as much as I’d like to because of work, and now it’s even harder with night falling so early, anyway…
cheers!

…there’s nothing to do but believe… just believe… just breathe…
didn’t know how to start this blog, but as I am listening to this beautiful song I’ll share it with you…
In the last post I talked a bit about an awful weekend, the thing was that the band was playing a nice gig with nice headliners, but quite far from the city. They sent a bus for us and other bands which was something good, sometimes driving in the freeway isn’t cool, and it’s even worse after playing a gig where you end tired as hell!… anyway, Johnny decided to drive on his own, and the rest of us took the bus…

He’s Fausto, the son of a member of one of the other bands in the bus, he has diabetes wich is totally uncool being just a kid…

Lookin’ at the other buses in the road, lots of them from schools, this being one of them. Floun was making weird faces at children, giving them the rock sign \m/ and basically just playing with them…

Mally on the phone…
Even though we took the bus we arrived late, it didn’t matter much, it was raining and stopped just minutes before we got there…
We spent most of the time at the backstage…

Erick and Marisol…

Sammy and Ayari…

Mally again…

Johnny and Ayari leaning on his shoulder… and lens flare…they arrived earlier and by the evening they were very tired, to the point that she actually fainted (one of the many unfortunate events)…

Sammy was goin’ crazy…

he always has the mf attitude!!
After hours waiting and waiting because of the awful organization of the gig the headliner, Victimas del Doctor Cerebro, got onstage…

there’s something about this last one that I like…
uhm… we?… no, at the end we didn’t do our show, another misfortunate event…
later we knew that Johnny, Ayari, Erick and Marisol almost crashed at the freeway back home!!!… yup, another misfortunate event!!… and one week later we had the news that Erick’s brother in law was robbed just outside his house… they took his car… another mother fuckin’ misfortunate event!!!… ohhh! and just on sunday this happened just five minutes away from my house!!… next day I felt it was Apocalypse!! the sightings were horrendous…
On a more positive experience I just had a nice day street shooting a little bit… some results…

did you watched that Chris Weeks‘ documentary on street photography? I bet you did… and if you haven’t then go and watch it!… the thing is, I admit I kinda grabbed the idea for this photo from one he did in the documentary…

Independence Day was near so this one was nice for the occasion…

dunno what he was doing up there…

Really… all this tarot and witchcraft stuff really makes me laugh most of the times

he was playing with a bucket, as if it was his car or something… kinda cute!

just arriving from the vet?…

…
okay I’m posting one last one… I messed up with the focus and terribly fucked up the photo, but i think the kid’s expression is priceless, and his father’s too!!

there you go…
Lately I haven’t been shooting as much as I’d like to… work sucks…
whatever…
cheers!
XD

it’s what happened last weekend… really, fuckin shitty weekend. But it’s gone isn’t it? thank god!… but that’s not what this blog is about really. Just got some film developed from the lab and spent my spare time in the week scanning, some nice shots, some awful ones!
A month ago or something, Abril decided to celebreate her birthday at The Real Under, a place which is nice to hang out sometimes, lots of goth dudes and industrial music, yeah I enjoy that every six months or so…

Just after I finished work I decided to walk around the Condesa neighborhood and take some photos before going to the party

very kitsch stuff on the streets… Malverde paraphernalia…

and obviously lots of people with their dogs and children…

I met Katia and got some icecream and a couple of drinks before going to the party

Gerardo, funny guy… the place was extremely dark and this was the only photo I could do with the help of a street light just beside the window…

Next day to the WPP exhibition @ the Franz Mayer Museum, did this photo while going up the stairs from the parking…

Already inside the museum…

same subject, just a different angle…

looking up…

…

definitively I like this one…

just people enjoying a Sunday afternoon downtown…

couples are always nice subjects…
Later that same day went to Dieg0’s…

Monica with his bartender friend…

Sammy talking on the phone… surely with Floun…
Next day went to the Condesa again with Alexis and have pizza and beer…

does everybody there has a dog??…

and dates…

taken at the bar restroom…
Peter Hook was about to have a DJ Set in the city, which was really nice, he is a true legend! maybe not a good DJ at all but, damn! he really made the place rock. These photos were taken when I went to buy my ticket…

a couple of tourists…
There’s this exhibition at Reforma avenue about endangered species… kinda artsy…

that one was pretty cool…
the next set was from a Sunday morning at the place where my parents got married, I took some photos a while ago there… it’s been years!!

the princess got her chariot

three different wheeled objects in a single frame…

it could’ve been four but this one was missing

there’s always someone on the phone…
just like a week ago or something Angelica had a photo exhibition with some girls of her class… not very interesting really but she’s a cool girl… I arrived early so went for some more street shooting…

waiting to cross the street…

more waiting, just next to a Juan Soriano sculpture…

yeah… more people on the phone… text messaging, but still on the phone…

already at the exhibition, Angelica at the far right… photos were mainly nudes…

Ivan, Angie’s bf… he’s a mutha fucka… luv him!…

he was facing the other camera but in the very moment I pressed the shutter he turned and gave me that face!

dude, I’m going so blind!… this is so out of focus, but I post this because I liked the idea… Angie’s idea actually…
and just to finish with this roll…

Ayari, who just got a new tattoo in her lower back… but it’s going to be a full back piece!

and Johnny… he’s getting more and more tattoos!!
uhmm… as always, pardon the dusty scans XD
got some more film to develop… I’ll post as soon as I got it…
cheers

I really don’t know where to start this post. I have a lot of photos and some of them are from quite some time ago, December 2009 more precisely… Those shots were taken with the Zorki, a camera which I don’t use that often because it suffers from heavy backfocusing, the rangefinder couldn’t be calibrated properly, even though I have been researching about it but nothing seems to work. Anyway, the results are kinda funny…
FIlm is Kodak E100VS, it was intended to be cross processed but I forgot to tell the lab guy to do so… duh…

This is at Portezuelo, a beach near Puerto Vallarta, like an hour and a half away…

The day after at the little town…

and on our way leaving…
mmmm… some more random shots taken at other places…

Andy aka The Office!

…

Andy with Mr. Luis Barragán during Swine Flu times…
Last post I uploaded some photos taken with the rollei, these next were taken at the same place but with the AE-1p

The castle, like many more, is in the top of a mountain. This was taken on our way up…

Already in the castle, everyone wants a picture of course…

take a look at the view…

…

and why not? take a nap aswell…

…

some of the surroundings…

She got a monkey on her back… literally!

…

another view of the castle…

I took this selfportrait inside of the castle… the AE-1P in one hand, the rollei in the other.
Then, like a week or so after that we went to the National Anthropology Museum. I already posted some of the digital photos I took that day, but I just developed film from that day…

That’s the entrance …

Dunno what he was doing with that book…

that’s my father inside the museum…

This is some kind of backyard of the museum with a reconstruction of a Mayan temple…
More surroundings…

He was taking a picture of some Papantla Flyers…

…

yup, they were looking at the Papantla Flyers too…

…

Name all the wrestlers and you get a prize…

Titanic… really made me laugh…

Cute old couple…
Then, another day downtown with some friends, basically just fooling and enjoying…

A replica of the Independence Angel just smaller…

People looking for a job…

…

We stoped for lunch and took this photo there. I like it so much, there’s a lot of stuff happening there, you know, the dude on the phone, the guy looking at the camera, and the kissing couple just behind him…

Taken while having lunch too…

There was a David LaChapelle exhibition at the moment in the city so you could find these all around… I never went to the exhibition, I’m not much of a fan of his work, but still I consider it quite important…

…

The ever famous Salon Corona, nice place to hang out, have some beers and eat snacks…

Don’t remember what they were looking at…

…
Then of with the guys to a couple of gigs…

okay… not those guys… and not that gig…

not these guys either, but that gig…

She’s Ayari, Johnny’s GF… she’s cool… (and she promised me a Pozole but haven’t got it so far ¬¬)

Female band The Wa… didn’t got a chance to hear them that day, we left early…

That was n another gig…. Johnny and Floun backstage…

Ayari again… a little bit shy with the camera sometimes…

Sammy did some haute couture job for Mally’s wardrobe… and took some nice photos of the band playing aswell…
…
There was a family gathering with relatives I’ve never seen before, but anyway, it was fun!

He was the main reason for the gathering… he’s been doing a lot of research on the Family Tree, more than 35 years in the making.

He’s actually a very cool man, there he was explaining to the young dudes the process of making the Family Tree.

My cousin Ana Lucía… no, she wasn’t drinkin… don’t remember why she held that glass…

Andrea holding the newest family member and Regina…

The newest family member… meet Johara…

did a shot with the zorki too… awful focusing, but I’ve already explained that…

My father and my brother…

My aunt Pilla… she’s always busy, she can’t keep steady…

Regina… funny girl… caught her in a silent moment, and believe me, those are rare!!

took this one while they where taking this…

…

Zelda…
think that’s it for now… still got some film left to develop…
cheers!
ps- read the news today and saw this… really made me sad, he was such a big influence and a great innovator of our time… he did more for modern music than MJ (with all due respect) but people don’t know much about him and ignore all that he did, without him the music world wouldn’t be the same…

Just got some negatives from the lab and these are the first ones to get scanned. It’s a little post but hey, that’s something!
A month or so ago I went to the Chapultepec Castle, It’s an amazing place, there’s all kinds of old furniture and stuff from the era. This place has a lot of history so if you wanna know more about it just google it, but now I leave you here with some photos I did with the Rollei…

more coming soon okay?…
cheers!

On Saturday I went to the Gay Pride Parade, I’ve never been to one and I thought it would be fun, and I can assure you it surely was fun!… It reminded me the Love Parade in Berlin, Lots of people dressed in weird costumes, lots of bright colours and, over all, lots of love!

Love Parade??… not!…

some of the first sightings at the parade…

although the picture is a little blurred I like it somehow… oh yeah! the girl of course! cute, isn’t her?

cute little fella!… he looked so nice with all his gay themed accesories…

yeah… more colours!…

Supermana, a gay super heroine, was there…

they love being photographed…

love is all around!… I think they found a place where no one would stare at them in a weird way or judge them…

really… it was like Halloween…

nice eyelashes…

kind of a mix between Halloween and a Carnival…

my friend San… cute shades huh?

and Astrit… she liked those fake eyelashes…

I have to admit I kinda liked his costume… he did a nice effort…

she just looked so cute…

even more costumes…

she’s so proud of being a lesbian… I mean, in case you didn’t noticed that…

cool one…

damn! that’s a shitload of people!

he really put his life in that costume!

Maf just get crazy when looks at stuff with lots of colours like this umbrella… she wanted a photo with it…

and Anne has this thing for wigs and giant fake eyelashes, though she looked great…

I got to be sincere on this one… It really creeped me out! but still a nice costume…

very patriotic…

happy couples…
Later it started raining, I had to put down the camera and keep it in a safe place from the rain, then run to get a cab… so that was it…
cheers!

Yup, another fair in town. Actually, I can assure you that every weekend there’s a fair somewhere in this city… anyway, lately I’ve been takin’ lots of photos about the culture in Mexico… there was this contest and well… I tried to get some nice photos for my entry but not anything I’m proud actually… but still i got some nice captures I guess… hope you like’em… here we go…

just cool colours and textures… I might do a B&W version later…

merry go round! these things are always beautiful, even though they are the simplest thing in the world…

light and shade…

there were this all kind of bottles and glass hangin’ in a tent… dunno what was it all about but it looked nice…

light and shade again… and motion of course…

this kid was waitin’ to have a blast… but in the meantime he doesn’t seem so eager at all…

cool! glowing ears and earrings… you’re kiddin’ me right???!!

damn dude, cotton candy! it’s been a while since the last time I had one of those… anyway, take a look to those kids faces…

ahhh I remember this one being one of my favourites back in the day!

hungry??… I was actually, but i didn’t had a penny!

…nice place to watch all kind of families having a good time…

more food… corn with mayo, cheese, chili, salt and lemon :S I really hate that mix…. prefer it with just chili, lemon and salt

oh yeah! I suck at this kind of games… but my brother actually was good, he always leaved the fair with a couple of prices…

this two little girls were beautiful, they had this glitter make up and looked so cute!

…good luck!
oh yeah! on tuesday I went downtown and there was this another fair, but not the traditional kind… it was about different countries and stuff, food, crafts, etc.

I guess this wrestle thing is a little bit well known around the globe…
more wrestle thing crafts… just lookin’ for some nice DOF and colour…

and just the same concept but with the Day of the Dead tradition…

the Anthropology National Museum by Pedro Ramírez Vázquez… yup, heavy phtoshopping on this one for a little fun…

just a final shot…
guess that’s all for now… have a nice week… mondays suck!
cheers!
